CEFAID 727 - Firearms Safety - Non Restricted PAL – $199
To acquire firearms in Canada you require a Possession Acquisition License (PAL), formerly known as the Firearms Acquisition Certificate. To apply for a PAL you must prove you have successfully completed a course or test in the safe handling and use of firearms and the laws relating to them. Successful completion of this class enables participants to submit their application for a non-restricted PAL.
Note: This course is a prerequisite for the Firearms Safety-Restricted PAL course.
Prerequisite: Participants must be 12 years of age or older.

CEFAID 728 - Firearms Safety - Restricted PAL – $159
Topics include the new CRFSC with emphasis on handgun, evolution of firearms, major parts and types, basic firearm safety practices, ammunition operating handgun actions, safe handling and carrying, procedures, handgun firing techniques, care of handguns including servicing and cleaning and responsibilities of the firearms owner/user.
Prerequisite: Participants must be 18 years of age or older to take this course and must have successfully ocmpleted PAL Non-restricted.

CEFAID 732 - GPS, Map, Compass and Notetaking - $199
Learn basic navigation using GPS, map and compass. Discover how to read and interpret maps, find a location, estimate distances, and plot a course. Compassing, traversing and notetaking is practiced in the field.

CEFAID 747 - Bear Awareness – $119
This 8-hour course provides up-to-date instruction on black and grizzly bear ecology and behaviour so that you can apply your knowledge to proactively reduce the risk of encountering and attracting bears. The course includes hands-on practice with bear spray.

CEFAID 769 - CORE - Hunter Training – $255
Successful completion of the Conservation and Outdoor Recreation Education (CORE) course is mandatory for all residents applying for their hunting license. This course provides information about outdoor survival, hunter safety, wildlife, gun handling and first aid.
Prerequisite: Participants must be 10 years of age or older.

CEFAID 779 - Industrial Snowmobile Operator – $299
The Industrial Snowmobile Operator course is a two-day course for employees who use snowmobiles in their work. The course teaches the same lessons as the Snowmobile Operator course on the first day. Day two involves specific training on WorkSafe BC policy while operating a snowmobile, plus more difficult and challenging riding on a snowmobile.
Note: Participants must bring their own snowmobile; DOT approved helmet; proper winter clothing; food; and water for a day of riding.
Contact your local campus to register your interest in this course. Upon sufficient demand, the course will be scheduled.

CEFAID 824 - CORE Challenge - $89 + HST
Challenge the Conservation and Outdoor Recreation Education Exam. The written exam will be done first and then the practical exam times will be staggered as this portion is one-on-one with the instructor.
You will be given the practical exam time after the written. The textbook will be provided and must be studied before you write your exam. You can pick up your book at the time of registration.

CEPSTR 722 - Intro to Guiding and Wrangling-$3500
The Wilderness Guiding and Wrangling program is a hands-on intensive course designed and developed by the Guide Outfitters Association of British Columbia. The goal of the program is to prepare individuals for employment in the guide-outfitting industry. In recent years the employment rate of graduates has been virtually 100%. This 15-day program takes place entirely at Wagontrail Ranch, near Smithers. Students stay in bunkhouses and food is provided in a cookhouse.
Prerequisite: Participants must have successfully completed PAL - Firearms safety and Core - Hunter Training.
Note: Some students may be eligible for funding through the Employment Skills Access program. Contact NWCC for more info.
